Hello! My name is Alice and welcome to my blog, today’s post is a blog tour stop for the novella Caught on Camera by Madelle Morgan. This post will include all of the book details as well as a giveaway opportunity. My review will be posted a little later on, I’m currently unwell at the moment.

Book & Author Details:

Caught on Camera
by Madelle Morgan
(Hollywood in Muskoka, #1)
Publication date: September 9th 2016
Genres: Comedy, New Adult, Romance

To achieve her dream of working on Hollywood film sets, star struck chambermaid Rachel Lehmann needs $35,000 for film school tuition by the end of the summer. When she’s asked to fill in for a missing bridesmaid at a movie star’s wedding, it’s her big chance to take candid photos of celebrities and sell them to the entertainment media. Then groomsman Mickey McNichol, agent to the stars, sweeps her off her feet.

Mickey’s bitter experience is that everyone in show business fakes emotions. When he falls for the stand-in bridesmaid, he thinks he’s finally met a beautiful woman he can trust. But if Rachel betrays his friends’ privacy, Mickey will ensure she never works in Hollywood.

Madelle completed four novels before Ellora’s Cave Publishing Inc. contracted to publish her debut romantic suspense, Diamond Lust—republished as Diamond Hunter—and a sexy, short free read, The Next Big Thing, in 2010.

When Madelle realized her author voice is more suited to light, humorous contemporary romance, she went waaaay back to her teen years for the Hollywood in Muskoka series setting. Madelle, her sisters, and assorted pets enjoyed idyllic summers at a lake in the District of Muskoka, Ontario, Canada, named by National Geographic Traveler magazine as one of their top 20 Best of the World Must-see Places.

The Muskoka lakes’ forested shorelines are dotted with palatial properties owned by wealthy families and Hollywood celebrities. At sixteen, being neither rich nor famous, Madelle worked briefly as a chambermaid at the now-closed Delawana Inn, a local resort.

Madelle is retired from an engineering career in the federal public service and lives in Ottawa, Canada’s capital, with her husband. She tries to keep fit with cycling, Pilates, and yoga, and dreams of owning a waterfront cottage. Or at least a pool.

She tweets and posts on Facebook and Goodreads about Hollywood, filmmaking, Muskoka, and, of course, writing. She blogs the second Tuesday of the month at and occasionally on her own website.

Use cash and keep moving.

After I ran away from home, these were the two rules that dictated my life. Scoring a job as a roadie fit perfectly for what I needed. Traveling, cash, and life out of the spotlight.  But when my path collides with West, the lead singer of Bus Stop, I can’t seem to stay out of his spotlight—especially since we’ll be touring together for an entire year.

West is determined to break down my walls. He won’t give up. And little by little they come crumbling. But if he knew what lurked behind them, he wouldn’t be so eager to get rid of them.

The more time we spend together, the more the lines of our friendship become blurred. He makes me dream of things I never thought possible. But while our friendship has been evolving into a romance, my secrets have been closing in. And just when I’ve decided to reveal my past to West, I’m confronted by it. The cost of my freedom could ruin the life of the guy I love…

Shannon Greenland is the award winning author of several novels including the teen spy series, THE SPECIALISTS, and the YA romance, THE SUMMER MY LIFE BEGAN. Her latest teen novel, SHADOW OF A GIRL, is due out 9.19.16. She also writes thrillers under S. E. Green and lives off the coast of Florida with her very grouchy dog. Find her at

My Review:
Shadow of a Girl follows the story of a sixteen year old girl Eve who runs away from her abusive household in a bid to discover freedom. She changes her appearance and travels across the US to look for work and covering up the secrets of her past so that they don’t spoil her life whilst she is living on the road with roadies. Her world changes when she meets West, a hot and attractive frontman of the band Bus Stop. Both of them have secrets they’re keeping but one wrong move could spoil any chance of happiness for them both.
I like that the romance was well-developed and not an insta-love plot. I would say that the novel is suitable for teens but there are some scenes of abuse throughout the book that may be uncomfortable. As a lover of books that involve Romance and music together, reading this was just up my street. I enjoyed it immensely and will be reading more books by the author.

Approaching 2,000 Followers, The Crazy Reaction.

Just saying that out loud is crazy within itself to be honest, starting on just 40 followers on my Goodreads profile in March to just under 2,000 now in mid-November of the same year is huge. Every morning when I wake up, the first thing I do is grab my iPad and check any messages and notifications from Goodreads overnight. That’s how Goodreads itself has become such a huge part of my life. Rough days when I needed a break, I could just log on and stare at all of the pretty book covers and no-one would notice (apart from one of my closet friends) XD

But literally, in such a short amount of time, I’ve learnt something about myself that I wasn’t sure I knew about. I am a passionate lover of books, and people like it. I’ve had people say to my face that I’m boring because of the books but on a website like Goodreads, I’ve had the opportunity in just half a year to experience working with some great tour hosts to promote books and read ARCs for review. I am very much looking forward to 2017, deep down in my heart, I have the feeling that 2017 may be the year that my book reviewing really does reach some new heights.

I would like to thank all of my Goodreads followers as well as all of my blog readers for your continued support on this journey. I have a blog tour this coming Tuesday so I will be back then!

In the meantime, follow me on Goodreads at Marriedtobooks44:

This post will include a spoiler-free review, details about a giveaway running in conjunction with the tour and all about the author. So, stay tuned and enjoy reading!

Book & Author Details:

Wear White to Your Funeral
by Lisa Acerbo
Publication date: October 28th 2016
Genres: Mystery, Romance, Young Adult

Rory is your average high school senior. Or she was, until her mother banishes her to hell, also known as Trumbull, Connecticut. The small suburb with only a mall and movie theater, sure feels like the netherworld until Rory’s first day at her new school. That’s the day she meets Bowen, who begs her to join him on a class project. But when Bowen drags her to a graveyard after dark for research purposes, Rory wants to fly back home to Atlanta, or at least return to her aunt’s house unharmed and unmolested.

Nothing could go wrong, right? They talk, they laugh, and they wander among the tombstones looking for information on the local ghostly legend known as the White Lady. Then they have to run, but they cannot outrun a ghost. In addition to the ghostly woman, a half buried dead body leads Rory and Bowen into a deadly game of cat and mouse, but who is the killer? Is it human or something long dead and otherworldly?

The police are of little help, Rory’s aunt just wants her to remain safe, and Bowen, who she can’t stay away from, keeps finding ways to get her into more trouble than she has ever known. Whether breaking into a suspected killer’s house, being followed by a menacing ghost, or being stalked at school, Rory hopes finding the killer will put an end to the supernatural haunting. Before Rory can discover the identity of the killer, she is drawn into the mystery of the White Lady, which opens the door for some very real danger.

Lisa Acerbo is a high school teacher and holds an EdD in Educational Leadership. She lives in Connecticut with her husband, daughters, three cats, and horse. She is the author of Apocalipstick and has contributed to local newspapers, news and travel blogs including The Patch and Hollywood Scriptwriter.

A spooky read which is perfect for Halloween! The story follows Rory, a High School senior leaving behind her hometown of Atlanta for a creepy town in Connecticut to stay with aunt Nora while her mum is in Japan. On her first day at a new school, she meets a guy Bowen who will go on to have a big impact on her time in Connecticut. As part of a journalism assignment, both of the most work together to investigate the mystery of the supposed “White Lady” ghost that roams around the local graveyard. When both of them stumble onto a dead body, they are both caught up in a murder scene where a killer is at large. Both of them take the decision to track down the person responsible but when scary things start happening, their lives could be in grave danger. This is a YA paranormal story that I absolutely loved reading from start to finish. The suspense built up well with detailed settings, the romance did come on quite quickly but wasn’t predictable. I liked Bowen’s intelligence and enjoyed seeing Rory on quite an adventurous journey. Couldn’t fault the story at all, will be reading more books by this author.

If you love reading Nancy Drew, you will definitely love reading Wear White To Your Funeral!

One More Time Is Not Enough by Belle Ami
(The Only One, #3)

Publication date: July 13th 2016
Genres: Adult, Romance, Suspense
QUICK NOTE: Although this is the third book in the series, this can be read as a standalone novel!

Adelia Lindstrom Bremen seems to have it all: Wealth, beauty, perfect twin children, two men in love with her, and a career she loves. But, beneath the veneer of success and prosperity lies disappointment, tragedy, and unending lies. Her parents were murdered, her marriage ended in a custody battle, and she is swept up in a love triangle. Now she has discovered the existence of a half-sister who wants nothing to do with her.

The only thing that could make matters worse is if she were to become the target of a serial killer—that’s about to happen.

Belle Ami is an accomplished pianist, world traveler, skier and gourmet cook. She lives in Calabasas, CA and is currently finishing her sequel to The One entitled The One and More, the second novel in her (The Only One) series. She also has a self-published novel in another genre that was awarded Finalist for a major book reward.

I had not read previously the other books in the Only One series but was intrigued by the thriller and the whole crime side of the plot. Adelia is bringing up her two young children as well as having romantic feelings for two men, her ex-husband and a close friend who joins the FBI. The novel takes place in the US and Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Some of the scenes in the story are steamy however, the amount of thrills that I experienced particularly close to the end of the novel in a stand-off involving lives on the line made me want to keep on reading until the end. The relationships and hidden secrets between all of the main characters kept the action going with twists and turns hidden around every corner. The mystery of Adelia’s half sister Olivia created friction throughout. Overall, not quite the type of book I would normally pick up but could not fault the writing at all. 4/5 stars.

Life Update: New Bedroom, Maths Exams and My Cat’s New Bizarre Obsession…

Hi everyone! It’s Alice here with a life update blog post for you all. For the past week or so, I have had people message me here and also on my Goodreads inbox asking me why I am not as active as I have been recently. This post will hopefully clear up any confusion my activities on the internet may have caused.

First things first, I got my bedroom redone over the autumn half-term break! This involved setting up new Ikea Billy bookcases in my room as well as a new wardrobe and the amount of cobwebs on the walls behind some old units were freaky as Halloween. No sharing any pictures guys, I hate spiders! But besides that, it means that all of the books that were piled up on the floor are now safely on shelves. There are 3 units instead of just 1 I had previously and I have organised them quite randomly. One is strictly YA, one is strictly Adult and the third a mix of mass market paperbacks as well as my favourite book series (cough Hunger games cough).

Next, I have been through the stressful process of exams. Now, exams and I do not get along well in the slightest. Here in England, if you don’t pass English and Maths in school, you have to keep doing it until you do pass. I’m resitting Maths for the fourth time now and I swear everytime I sit a Maths paper, something bad always happens. I had the first out of two exams today and it was utter hell. I only had just over 3 weeks to try and get my head round some new topics I hadn’t studied before and questions came up on the paper that I had never seen before in my life. I felt physically sick, I’m never going to pass it, that’s my grade chances blown. Leaving half of the paper blank because you literally didn’t have the help to understand and revise everything really knocked my confidence badly. It sucks you know? My 2nd paper is on this coming Friday so I have to try and pin my hopes on scoring a high grade on that paper if I am to have any chance to getting the grade. I’ve already decided this will be the last time I will sit the Maths paper since I am almost of age when you don’t have to keep resitting it anymore. Don’t get me wrong, I do love Maths but it is the exams that really spoil things for me.

Then, let’s set the scene for my cat to make an entrance. She has a new habit for… climbing into the kitchen sink and licking the plughole! I seriously have no idea why she has suddenly gotten into the mood for jumping into the sink but when my family still had the old bathroom, she used to jump into the bathroom sink and lick the taps making water dribble out everywhere. It was ever so funny.

That’s it for the life update post, thanks so much guys for reading. See you all soon! Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter @marriedtobooks3, Instagram @aliceandthebookslover and on Goodreads Marriedtobooks44.
